સાયલન્સ પ્લીઝ – ડો.આઇ.કે.વીજળીવાળા

ડો.આઇ.કે.વીજળીવાળા વિશે ઘણુ બધુ સાંભળ્યુ અને કોલેજ (BA) કરતી ત્યારે મકાન માલીક સાથે તેના બાળકની દવા લેવા ગઇ ત્યારે જ પહેલી વખત જોયેલ. વીજળીવાળા સહેબ ની જેવી લાગણી તેમના વિડીઓમાં જોયેલ તેવી જ લાગણી “સાયલન્સ પ્લીઝ” બુકમાં જોવા મળી.

સાયલન્સ પ્લીઝ બુક વાંચવાની મજા આવવાનું કારણ ટૂકી વાર્તા અને હક્કીકત ઘટના છે. શરુઆતની ચાર-પાંચ ઘટના (વાર્તાઓ) માં લાગણીશીલ બની ગઇ અને રડવુ આવી ગયેલ પરંતુ જેમ આગળ વાંચતી ગઇ તેમ અડધી ઘટના વાંચીને એમ થતુ કે કંઇ સારૂ બનશે/કંઇ સારો END આવશે થતુ કોઇ લેખક પોતાની વાર્તામાં શરૂઆતમાં કે વચ્ચે ટ્રેજેડી દેખાડે પરંતુ અંત તો HAPPY જ હોય પરંતુ પરંતુ વીજળીવાળા સરે જે બુકનું નામ આપ્યુ એ જ પ્રકારના મોટા ભાગની ઘટનાના અંત છે.

મને સાયલન્સ પ્લીઝ બુક માંથી આશ્રર્ય પમાણે તેવા વાક્યો :

Ø  ઇ તો અણહક્ક્નો પૈસો કેવાય જો મારે જ લેવો હોત તો દેવા શુ કામ આવત? અને હું જો ઇ પૈસો રાખુ તો મારો રામ રૂઠે.

Ø  ઇ પાકીટ કોક બેંદીકરીનું છે. એટલે એમાં ઉંબરેણ કરીને આપવુ પડે

Ø  સૌ પ્રથમ તો તમારે બીજા સાથે કેમ બોલવુ તેની તમીશ શીખવાની જરૂર છે. અને બીજી વાત ! મારા જુનિયર્સ ને શુ શિખવાડવું તે મને તમારે કહેવાની કોઇ જ જરૂર નથી કારણ કે એ મારુ કાર્ય ક્ષેત્ર છે.

Ø  અહીંયા તમે કહો તેમ ન થાય ! અને ગરીબ માણસના છોકરાને એના કોઇ સગા ધારાસભ્ય  નથી એટલા વાંક માટે ખાટલા પરથી ફ્લોર પર ન લઇ લેવાય”

                                                   ‌‌- ‌  જરૂર છે આજે આવી થોડીક વ્યક્તિઓની...

Ø  પોતાના સગા માટે માણસ ન દોડે અને ન કરે તો કોના માટે કરે?

Ø  તો છે ને સાહેબ ! એ કાલે મરવાની હોય ને તો છો ને આજે મરતી પણ મારા દીકરાનું લોહી તો નહીં જ આપવા દઉં. મારા દીકરા પર અમારા બધાની જવાબદારી છે. અને આમેય એ દીકરીઓ જ જ્ણ્યે રાખે છે એ કરતા ભલે મરી જતી.

-     લોહી નો સબંધ

Ø  આપણે ક્યારે પોતાની કાર લઇશું કોને ખબર બાકી એ તો આવતા મહિનાથી જ મર્સિડીમાં ફરશે!

Ø  આવા ભાગ્ય લઇને પણ આ છોકરાવ જનમતા હશે ને ?!

Ø  જુઓ બહેન! હું પૈસા તો આપુ પણ તમે એનું કરશો શું! મે પોછ્યું.

પેટનો ખાડો પુરીશ સાહેબ! ત્રણ ત્રણ દિવસથી ભુખી છું ત્રણ દિવસ તો ઝીંક્ઝીલી પણ આજે ભુખ સહન ન થઇ શકી એટલે ભીખ મગાઇ ગઇ !

Ø  એક માની નાની ઝુંપડીમાં પણ પાંચ બાળકોને સમાવેશ થઇ શકે પણ પાંચેય બાળકોના આકીશાન મહેલોમાં ક્યારેય એક માને જગ્યા નથી મળી શકતી.

-     જનેતાની હાલત

Ø  ભુલથી નહીં સાહેબ! મે જાતે જ એ દવા આપી છે. એ કંપની મારા સગાની છે. અહી બધા ડોકટર્સ દવાઓ લખે છે પણ હું જે દવા આપુ એ ચલાવી લે છે. કોઇ મને કંઇ કહેતુ નથી.

નહી ભાઇ! આ દર્દીઓની જિંદગીનો સવાલ છે અને એમાં જરા પણ બાંધ છોડ નહીં ચાલે સમજ્યા?

Ø  તમે રોજના૧૦૦ દર્દીઓ જુઓ છો તેમાંથી પાંચ દસ દર્દી ને પણ આમના ભાઇની કંપનીની દવાઓ લખી આપો એવી અમે આશા રાખીએ.

Ø  ટ્ર્સ્ટી સાહેબ તમે ક્યારેય ભુખ જોઇ છે? મે મુખ્ય ટ્ર્સ્ટીને પ્રશ્ન કર્યો. એ કંઇ પણ જવાબ આપે તે પહેલા જ હું બોલ્યો, ‘તમે ક્યારેય ઉનાળાના બળબળતા તાપમાં ખાળીયા ખોધ્યાં છે? ક્યારેય ત્રિકમ – પાવડો ઉપાડ્યાં છે?

તો પછી મારા સાહેબ! તમને એ દસ રૂપિયાની કિંમત શું છે એ કદી નહીં સમજાય.

 

-     કપરા ચડાણ

Ø  જેમ તે દી અડધી રાત્યે ગારો ખંદતા આવ્યાં’તાં એમ જ આજે ગારો ખંદતા ત્રણેય વયા જાશું. પણ ખિસ્સામાં એક ફદિયુંય રાખીને નીકળું તો માતાજીના સમ. આ દવાખાનાનું – તમારું ઋણ કે દિ’ચુકવી શકશું એ તો મારો રામ જાણે!

-     દવાખાનાનું બીલ

Ø  હા સાહેબ !  હવે પડતુ મેલો. હું એક ભુવાને મળી આવ્યો છુ. એણે તો દાણા જોઇને સાફ કીધુછે કે છોકરીનો જીવ તો સાપ કરડયો તે દિવસે સાંજે જ જતો રહેલ છે. ડોક્ટરો તો ખાલી એનું મડદું જ ચુંથે છે એમને કહી દો કે મડદા જીવતા ન થાય.

-     મોતનીહાર

Ø  બુરા તો હમે ભી બહોત લગા થા સાબ ! લેકિન અગર મૈં ભી ઐસે હી ચિલ્લાતા તો ઉન મેં ઔંર મુજ મેં ફર્ક હી ક્યા રહ જાતા? ઔર ઇતની છોટીસી બાત કિતની બઢ જાતી ? ઔર સાબ ઇજ્જત પાને મેં પુરી જિંદગી ખર્ચ હો જાતી હૈ, લેકિન ગવાને કે લિયે સિર્ફ પાંચ મિનિટ હી કાફી હૈ !

Ø  હમારે બુઝુર્ગોને તો હમે ઐસા હી સિખાયા હૈ.ઔર રહી બાત પૈસોંકી, તો વો અગર મેરે નસીબ મેં હોંગે તો મિલ હી જાયેંગે! મગર મૈં ઉનકે જીતના બુરા બતાવ નહી કર સકતા.

Questions and answers of novel "Sense of an Ending"

1. What is the meaning of phrase ‘Blood Money’ in Veronica’s reply email?

This phrase can be interpreted in various ways like Tony is self-centric narrator and he think Veronica’s mother sent 500 dollar because she damages him is silly thing.

Ans: For Sarah it means because of Tony she got handsome young boy who in love with her and that’s why she sent money to him which is blood money for Veronica. She may felt guilty of Adrian’s suicide and she wants to blame Tony or wants to regret for that and so she sent him.  Veronica thinks that because of Tony Adrian would have relation with her mother. If Tony had not sent letter to Adrian or informed him that if you are not believe in me than ask her own mother who will inform you. And Adrian may go to ask her and since there their relation would have started and she became pregnant and that’s why intellectual Adrian had suicide. It means Tony played feelings of people and which lead to the destruction of some character’s life like Veronica, Sarah, baby, Adrian so it is blood money.

2.  How do you decipher the equation: b = s – v x/+ a1 or a2 + v + a1 X s = b?

Ans:

1).    b = s – v x/+ a1

S =Sarah, V =Veronica, a1 =Adrian, b =baby

Baby = Sarah – Veronica + Adrian

Baby =Sarah + Adrian

Sarah reducing her relation with Veronica, her daughter and making fruit full or happy with Adrian but out of it this deform bay produce.

a2 = Anthony Webster, V = Veronica, S = Sarah, b = Baby

Antony Webster + Veronica + Adrian + Sarah= baby

3. Adrian’s diary is willed to Tony by Sarah Ford. How come Sarah Ford owned it? Why was it in the possession of Veronica?

Ans: As Sarah Ford informed Tony that “Adrian was happy in his last days” and he was with Sarah than obliviously he has given his personal things to her. She wants to give to Tony and so she think that may it possible through Veronica and she left it that’s how diary was in Veronica’s possession.

4.  Was the mentally retarded middle aged ‘Adrian’, Tony’s friend who did not commit suicide and was suffering from trauma and thus gone mad, and was living with hidden identity?

Ans: Adrian highly philosophical man and one side he cannot think of suicide but as said that there are more things in the world than philosophy same may he thinks and suicide. We cannot say he is retarded because we need courage to control self by suicide and he justifies his suicide with logic so I think he is powerful man who felt guilty of his KARMA and so he suicide.

It seems to suicide is difficult than live life. “A short life happy life” is better than suffering from trauma and has gone mad, and living with hidden identity.  Tony suffers a lot but still he justifies himself as courageous because he faced many things which shows the capability of person. Suicide is escape from life means to do this crime one must capable of facing such situation.

5. How was Veronica related to Adrian, the one suffering in care-in-the-community?

Ans: It is not clear but according to the interaction of Tony with other fellow and Junior Adrian it indicates Veronica and Junior Adrian are sibling to whom she take care as other are doing.

6. Do you see any missing block – some dot which is not getting connected with the whole or dot missing to get full sense of the novel - in the plot of this psychological thriller?

Ans: The novel is unfolding covers step by step so I think everything is revealed at the end but audience must have to read in multiple ways so the answer will be not clear about some mystery.

7. Do you see any possible reason in the suicide of Adrian Finn?

Ans: He controlled his life so he challenged to Nature. He is clever, smart.….

8.  In the light of new revelations, how do you read character of Veronica? Instinctive, manipulative, calculating, stubborn, haughty, sacrificial, trustworthy, Good Samaritan?

Ans: This all are some extent true to her in different situation. She was instinct when she was just friend of Tony. If she lie about diary that she has burnt it than she is stubborn. She is haughty when she talks to Tony because she ever uses you never get. Sacrificial in term of taking care of Junior Adrian.

9.   What do you mean by Unreliable Narrator? Is Tony Webster classifiable as Unreliable Narrator?

Ans: Tony is unreliable narrator but it doesn’t mean the story is fake or without intellectuality. He explain the thing at the age 60 than how can possible for an old man to remember or recall his younger days as usual. He tries to connect the dot with his new ideas which he has experienced. I think Tony is classified as Unreliable Narrator because he remembers such things which had happen with him and at the end that all cleared by himself so. 

To the Lighthouse

“To the Lighthouse” is a novel written by Virginia Woolf.  It’s on stream of consciousness means thoughts are goes on. We have to understand the thought process of character and then get real message of the novel. It is not that just read character but we have to read the mind of character.

This novel divided into three parts:

1). Time passes
2). The window

3). The lighthouse

Mrs. Ramsay is a main character who is taking care of family. She believes in traditional values so she wants attention from everybody and wants to create her image in the mind of people. Mr. Ramsay, her husband totally opposite to her. He believes in practicality.

Lighthouse is  a symbol of hope, desire and loneliness. John, Ramsay’s son wants to visit lighthouse. There is need to cross the river to visit it, so his mother console him that if the climate will good than we will go tomorrow. Mr. Ramsay said it will be not good so John dislike father. We see the Oedipus complex that love for mother and hate for father.

Lily Briscoe is another practical character who is a painter and creating the picture of Mrs. Ramsay. She believes in single life. She advised Mrs. Ramsay to be a practical but she was not ready to change her behavior.

The Namesake

The novel “The Namesake” is written by Indo - American writer Jumpa Lahiri. She spent her childhood in India and at young age she migrates to America. What she feels is presented in this novel. Two generation makes vast difference. One prefer to old culture where as another accepting newer one.

Ashok Ashima belongs to middle class Indian family. They got married. Ashok is working at America so Ashima has to go with him. Ashima feels alienation and ever remembering home and wants to come back to India. Within few years she gave birth to a daughter and later on a boy. There is ritual in their family as elder have to give name of child. On the day of leave from hospital they didn’t get any letter from Ashok’s grandmother so Ashok kept his child name “Gogol”.

There is a reason behind this name. Once Ashok was travelling by train and met with an accident. Mostly people were died when rescue people came at that time pages of a book was turning and so rescue found Ashok is live and therefore his life was saved. The book was written by Nikolai Gogol so it becomes a very important incident in his life.

Whole family came to visit India. Gogol and his sister are not happy with Indian street. They went on tour at Delhi and Agra. They impressed by Tajmahel and then attract towards India.

Ashok and Ashima uses Bangali during dinner or whenever they are at home but these both child heating Bengali culture because they are happy with American culture. Ashima always missing India (homesickness) because of Ashok’s work and their children’s study they can’t came to India. Within this period Ashima’s parent die and even they don’t get the message earlier and when they get it was too late.

Gogol became young. He has affair with many girls. His friends make fun of his name so he dislikes his name. He wants to change his name so he struggle a lot and changed as Nikhil. On his fourteen birthdays Ashok gave book as a present. He didn’t give proper attention. Meanwhile his father dies in hospital and every ritual complete in America. Ashima starts living in India and per moth she taking care of her children at America. Gogol realise the value of his name for his father from his present given by father. He cried a lot. Now both children choose their life partner and start living.

This navel based on one family. All characters have their individual problem. Two generation suffering for their perspective about their life but they fit in such kind of a box from where they can’t move an inch. If they move than it is a problem for another.

The black cat

“The black cat” is written by Edger Ellen Poe. He is famous for horror, gothic, ghost and suspense that he has used in his short stories. He got fame for his short story like, The Tell Tale Hart, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Cask of Amontillado etc.

The black cat is about the story of a cat named Pluto, whom narrator loves. An unnamed narrator likes to live with pet animal. He has strong feelings for a black cat. The black cat also respect to him. Whenever narrator comes to home, black cat respect him. Once Pluto avoided him so he angry on it and removed one eye form its socate. Afterwards that eye gives hatred for Pluto to narrator. He decided to kill. He hanged Pluto on a tree. He feels better two-three days.

Once he went on his journey and found one cat resemble to Pluto. He decided to bring it to home. His wife still have respect as earlier but she has suspense about black cat that it is may lead them to bad end. Because of her loves towards cat make him act on it. Again he wants to kill cat but his wife came between and she becomes victim. He doesn’t want to tell this to anybody so he decided to build his wife with wall. Everything was all right but he doesn’t sleep fully.

After the death of narrator’s wife police men came to investigate. Police doesn’t seem wrong still the end moment but heart beat reveal the truth and he arrested.

This is an allegorical story. Narrator killed cat. Is it the same cat or the ghost of same cat? He found after the murder of cat that his house burnt and one wall still there. The wall was with black cat. It seems cat wants to take revenge and therefore his home destroyed but the cat was not satisfied with this small damage so it distinguishes as ghost and come again in his life. Pluto is responsible for the death of narrator’s wife yet Pluto is not satisfied and so it appear on the day of police arrival so the narrator arrested. The picture came as Pluto sat on lady and seems happy as now his revenge is successfully taken.

‘Revolution 2020’

‘Revolution 2020’ - Love, corruption, Ambition by Chetan Bhagat. He is famous for his simple langue in his work but yet he did not reach at the award winning place. May popular are no award winning or award winning are not popular. He focused on young generation that what young people prefer in their life? What kind of problem facing by them? Politicians are not always corrupt others but sometimes they help also which friends or relatives or other good people are not support like Gopal who get support from Shukla and that’s why he became money man but yet he has not avoid his genuine at the end.

Gopal telling story to Chetan Bhagat and so Gopal is first person narrator in “Revolution 2020”. He is a young guy. He loves a girl named Arti. He loves her but he is also paying attention on study. He wants more mark but his fate not supporting him. He worked hard and got less mark and his friend got good mark so he gets admission in good engineering college whereas Gopal has to transfer Kota for further study. His friends, family are not in favor of him because everyone understands him as loser. He is not craving attention of anyone except Arti, whom he loves. Arti loves him but wants to marriage with Raghav, a clever boy.

Gopal’s mother was died when he was four year old. He has his father and paying as much money as he can pay for Gopal’s study. Gopal care a lot about money because his family belongs to lower class and in any condition his father bringing money for him. Even his father gives much attention to Gopal’s study rather than his health. On the day of Gopal’s result he die after heard about low result. He shocked as his son will never do something which makes him high.

After his father’s death he comes in contact with Shuklaji, a politician. Shuklaji became a “God like” figure in his life. He never felt that he is doing corruption. Shuklaji built a school for Gopal, “Ganga Tech”. Gopal is director of that school. He played a lot to professor so student get better education. He is working hard for his school.

Raghav became a journalist. He edits one article in “dainic” on corrupt education & politics system. Because of that Gopal & Shukla has to suffer. Shukla arrested by police. Shukla and Gopal both wants to destroy Raghav so Shukla sends some people to ruin dainic office. Raghav becomes helpless because he has no support and plus he has no money. Because of these all things Arti choose Gopal as his boyfriend.

Character of Arti covers all girls as they are greedy for reputation and money. They don’t understand the situation of people. Raghav was clever and still that she remain to him but after Gopal became a director of school than she come on Gopal’s side or she ready to marry with Gopal. Arti doesn’t want to marry early yet her parents forced her to get marriage.

At first Gopal was honest and everything but his honesty is not supporting him than he starts doing wrong thing as he wants his land from his uncle which they didn’t give. He paid lots of money to corrupt institution for his school. He became successful person at the end.

Raghav was honest and want to spread in the world so he starts writing in newspaper about corrupt system. He wants to take India to far away but lack of money not supporting & people became a reason behind his failure.

It seems Gopal and Arti get marriage but Gopal feel strange and did not want to hurt Raghav so he made a plan on his birth day as he want to create wrong image in Arti’s mind therefore he arrange his relation with two girl on afternoon of his birthday. Arti came and saw this strange situation and went off by cry. She thinks Gopal fraud her so she ready to marriage with Raghav.

The end is happy as Raghav & Arti got marriage and Gopal working hard for his school. Shukla is still in the jail. Everyone get the things according to their KARMA.
